How is unit price calculated?

Weight (g, kg, oz, lb), volume (liter), and count (item) measure different things, so their unit prices aren't directly comparable — $0.01/g and $0.01/l describe different kinds of product. Compare products within the same unit family (e.g. all weight-based) to find the best value.

When a unit price is less than 1 cent (e.g. $0.003 per gram for a bulk item), rounding to 2 decimal places would show $0.00 and hide the real cost. We show 4 decimal places for these sub-cent unit prices so you can see the true difference.
