How This Calculator Works
Subtract the bar's own weight from your target, then split what's left evenly between the two sides. From there, the calculator loads the largest plate that still fits, then the next largest, and so on, until the per-side target is reached — the same way most lifters load a bar by hand. If your target can't be hit exactly with the plates you have available, it shows the closest achievable total and how far short it is.
